First meeting
We talk through how long it has been, what worries you and what you want to get to.
Refresher lessons
You hold a licence but have not driven in months or years. We get you back on the road — at your pace, with no test and no time limit.
Driving anxiety
We start on quiet roads — a car park, a residential street — and only step it up when you want to. No pressure, no time limit, no smart remarks. Whatever frightens you, we practise it as often as it takes to feel normal.
Driving anxiety is one of the most common reasons people with a valid licence ring us — and nearly all of them apologise for it. Nobody has to. Fear at the wheel is usually the result of too little repetition rather than too little talent, and it goes away the same way it arrived.
What helps is unspectacular: the same situation, often enough, with somebody beside you who could step in and does not have to. So the first lesson is deliberately small — and it is over when you say it is over. After that you decide lesson by lesson whether another one follows.
What we are not
Driving instructors, not therapists. If there is more behind the fear than a lack of practice, we say so rather than selling you ten lessons. And none of it goes on any record: a refresher is a service, not a procedure, and your licence is untouched by it.
We talk through how long it has been, what worries you and what you want to get to.
Quiet roads, an area you know, no stress. You are at the wheel and your instructor talks you through every step.
City traffic, junctions, the motorway, parking — as quickly as you are comfortable with.
When you feel safe, you are finished. No test, no certificate — you simply drive again.
There is no programme. You say what worries you, and that is what we drive — as often as it takes for it to feel ordinary.
You drive a school car with dual controls, in a manual or an automatic as you prefer. For a lot of people that is exactly the difference between “I can't” and “actually I can”: nothing can really go wrong.
If anxiety is behind it
Then we start smaller than you expect — a car park, a quiet street, ten minutes. We step up only when you say so. No time limit, no comparison with anybody else, no smart remarks.
You do not start on Oststraße but in quiet residential areas and side streets, a few minutes away from here. Only afterwards comes what makes up everyday Düsseldorf: multi-lane roads, tram rails, cyclists, pedestrians between parked cars. How quickly that step comes is your decision — and a morning appointment is often more comfortable for it than one in rush hour.
You decide that yourself — there is neither a minimum nor a maximum.
Some people need two or three lessons to find the feel again. Others drive ten and more because they want to work their way towards dense traffic step by step. Both are normal, and both are exactly how this is meant to work.
After the first lesson you get an honest assessment of what still makes sense. It is decided lesson by lesson, not in advance for a whole package.
No. Your licence stays valid however many years you have not driven.
There is no deadline after which it lapses and no re-test that falls due by itself. Only the card is time-limited, and exchanging it after 15 years is a pure document swap with no test attached.
A refresher is therefore entirely voluntary. It is a driving lesson for you — not a procedure at the end of which somebody decides about your licence.
Yes. Motorway only, parking only, city traffic only — every lesson is planned around what you need.
That is the difference from first-time training: there the syllabus sets the order, here you bring the topic. Say at the start what worries you and we drive exactly there.
The classics with us are motorway slip roads and lane changes, joining a roundabout, reversing into a space between two cars, and rush hour around the city centre.
Yes. It is one of the most common reasons people come for a refresher.
We take it gently and practise exactly the situations that worry you. Often it is one single place — a junction, a slip road, a particular kind of weather. You set the pace, and the lesson ends when you say it is enough.
If driving genuinely frightens you rather than merely making you uneasy, please say so on the phone. Then we set the first lesson up differently: quieter roads, a shorter route, more breaks.
No. A refresher is a service, not a procedure.
Nothing is assessed, nothing is minuted and nothing is reported to any authority. There is no result, no certificate and no file the lesson ends up in.
A lot of people ring us with exactly this worry. Anyone who drives uncertainly gets tips and a second lesson — not a letter from the Straßenverkehrsamt.
Yes. You book them one at a time and decide after each lesson whether another follows.
There is no package, no minimum number and no commitment. You do not have to register as a learner either — a refresher is not training, it is a driving lesson.
Call us or write a line about what you want to practise and when you can. We usually find an appointment within a few days.
That is a common reason, and a few lessons are usually enough for it.
We start on easy roads and only move into dense traffic once choosing the right-hand side is automatic again. In our experience the straight stretches are not the hard part — turning, roundabouts and the first shoulder check when pulling out are.
If you also hold a foreign licence, converting it may be a topic as well. Those are two different things — bring the licence along anyway and we settle both in one conversation.
