The short answer
You can change at any time, without giving a reason and without a notice period. You bring your ID card; the cancellation, the request for your training record and the re-registration in your application at the licensing authority are ours. The re-registration we file on the day you sign up; how long the authority takes over it is the authority's call.
Most people put the change off for months because they expect a confrontation. It is an administrative process, and you do not do most of it yourself.
Step by step

- We change the school named in your application at the licensing authority

What you do not have to do
Ring them. Justify yourself. Argue about why you are leaving. Wait out a notice period — there is none. You are a customer, not a member, and a training contract can be ended at any time.
How long it takes
The paperwork takes us a few days: the cancellation, the training record, and the re-registration we file at the Straßenverkehrsamt on the day you sign up. How long the authority takes over it is the authority's call — and because only the school on the application changes, your training does not stand still for it.
Between two tests
Changing is also possible when the theory test is already passed, or when the practical has gone wrong once. A passed theory test stays valid for twelve months regardless of who you continue with.
The assessment drive
An ordinary lesson in which the point is not progress but an honest position fix. Afterwards we tell you how many lessons are realistically still ahead — before you sign up, not after. If it turns out you are nearly finished, that is exactly the information you needed.
What it costs
A change fee rather than a full basic fee. What your previous school has already billed is between you and them — there is no refund of it from us. The amount is on the prices page, and what gets recognised is a separate post.
