Getting your licence around school or work

Theory in the evening and on Saturdays, lessons by diary rather than by schedule — how it works without taking leave.

The short answer

Theory classes run Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings plus Saturday mornings, and you choose the sessions. Driving lessons are arranged individually, including mornings and weekends. There is no minimum frequency — only a sensible one: about two lessons a week keeps progress steady.

A driving licence rarely fails on ability and often on the calendar. Most of our learners are working or at school — the regular route is built for exactly that.

Theory in the evening and on Saturday

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 18:30 to 20:00, plus Saturdays at 9:30 and 11:00. The 14 topics run on a continuous loop, you join at any session and miss nothing. Which topic falls when is in the theory timetable.

Lessons by diary

Appointments are arranged individually, including mornings, at the edges of the day and at weekends. People on shifts plan two weeks ahead; people on flexitime often put the lesson in the early afternoon, before rush hour has taken hold across Düsseldorf.

The one figure that counts

Regularity beats volume. Two lessons a week get you further than four every fortnight, because widely spaced appointments each cost some repetition — and repetition costs time and money.

When it does not work for a while

A break is not a problem. Exams, a deadline, a full month at work — the training continues afterwards and nothing expires. The only thing to watch is the twelve-month validity of a passed theory test; if you are planning a long break, do not put the theory test right at the start.

No time pressure does not mean no plan

We tell you honestly after every lesson where you stand, and only enter you for the test when that makes sense. Going at your own pace is a different thing from losing sight of the goal — and the difference is that somebody is keeping count.

If you do have time in one block, it works the other way round too: the intensive course compresses the same training into a few weeks.
